Research fields

  • application of numerical methods in analysis and design of bridge structures, field testing and condition assessment of existing bridges,
  • special consideration dedicated to numerical modelling and analysis of structures aimed at simulation of the structural behaviour under service as well as failure loads,
  • significant experiences in the field of masonry arch bridges,
  • large part of the scientific activity is related to influence of defects and deterioration mechanisms on bridge condition assessment,
  • latest research is focused on structural robustness and redundancy of bridges at accidental situations,
  • current commitment in an international scientific project COST Action TU1406 Quality specifications for roadway bridges, standardization at a European level (BridgeSpec).
