Biography

Civil engineer and architect. Academic and lecturer at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Wrocław University of Science and Technology, and lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture.

Expert appointed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage in the field of historic monument protection, specialising in architecture and construction. Member of the International Scientific Committee on the Analysis and Restoration of Structures of Architectural Heritage (ISCARSAH), the Main Conservation Commission advising the General Conservator of Monuments within the structures of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, and Chair of the Regional Council for the Protection of Monuments advising the Lubuskie Voivodeship Conservator of Monuments. Member of the Polish National Committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), the Association of Monument Conservators, the Lubuskie Regional Chamber of Architects, the Lubuskie Regional Chamber of Civil Engineers, and the Polish Association of Civil Engineers and Technicians. Since 2014, he has served as a court-appointed expert in civil engineering at the Regional Court in Zielona Góra, specialising, among other areas, in the repair and structural strengthening of historic buildings.

From 2018 to 2022, he served as the coordinator on behalf of Wrocław University of Science and Technology for the international research project “InnovaConcrete – Innovative Materials and Techniques for the Conservation of 20th Century Concrete-Based Cultural Heritage”, focused on the conservation of twentieth-century concrete heritage. As part of the project, technical investigations were conducted at the Centennial Hall in Wrocław, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Research Interests

His research focuses on the structural analysis and assessment of historic masonry, timber and reinforced concrete structures, as well as the selection of effective strengthening methods in accordance with conservation principles. Structural conservation and the strengthening of historic buildings are central to both his academic research and professional practice.

The primary objective of his research is to achieve the most accurate possible representation of the actual structural behaviour of historic structures through the application of theoretical and numerical models. His work focuses on using structural analysis to identify the causes of damage to historic buildings and to develop effective strengthening solutions that minimise intervention in the historic fabric while respecting established conservation principles.

He has presented his research at numerous national and international scientific conferences dedicated to the investigation and preservation of architectural heritage, including SAHC, SHATIS, PROHITECH and MURICO. He also actively participates in local initiatives aimed at raising public awareness of the importance of cultural heritage conservation.
